Baseline Grid Tester
Live text against a baseline grid so you can hit a vertical rhythm.
Runs entirely in your browser — no upload, no registration.
Vertical rhythm is what separates a considered layout from a chaotic one. When headings and body copy sit on the same underlying grid, the eye moves through the page effortlessly and the whole thing feels intentional. Slide the controls until baselines land on the pink lines.
What this tool does
Overlays a grid at your chosen row height on sample text so you can align line-height to it.
Why you might need it
Consistent vertical rhythm is what makes editorial designs feel calm.
How to use it
- Set grid step (usually 4 or 8px).
- Adjust body size and line-height until baselines line up.
